CONTINUING COVERAGE: Reporter Laid to Rest, Investigation Continues The funeral of Fenville Times reporter Jorge Holmstead was held Wednesday at Saint Matthew of Lilliput Church in downtown Fenville. The service was attended by more than 150 people, including many of Holmstead's relatives from Mexico. Holmstead's twin brother, Jesus, was notably distraught by the loss. "He was a brave and loyal friend to me," said Jesus Holmstead, who works as a brewmaster for Schlock's, as he entered the building with his parents. The Fenville County Sherriff's office called in the assistance of federal investigators, many of whom have been investigating the murders of twelve individuals in a warehouse on the city's north side on October 1. "We hope that by working together we can solve this case, and bring those responsible to justice, in a timely manner," said Fenville County Sherriff James Bluth at a press conference held Thursday evening. Bluth also stressed the fact that Barry Norse, owner of Schlock's Breweries, Inc, is not a suspect in the case. Deputies established that Holmstead was killed around 9pm on October 17, when Norse was giving a speech at the opening ceremonies of the Fenville County Harvest Festival. Holmstead's body was found near the front entrance to the Schlock's Brewery complex around 1am. Investigators still have no idea why Holmstead was at the brewery more than three hours after it had closed for the day. "We think that he was probably meeting someone who had secret information for his article," said Bluth, "and that whoever that person is might know something about his death." |
